At IPI we actually feel a sound international liability insurance
policy is more important than the proper international property
insurance. An international property loss of $50,000 is devastating
if one is uncovered and not prepared, but we have seen liability
claims in excess of $2,000,000 USD. This amount of claim can financially
ruin a family that is not protected. What's more, the global liability
insurance is far less expensive than the international property
insurance costs.
An Effective International Liability Insurance Policy is Global
in Scope
If you are living in China, your wife is spending 4 months back
in the U.S., and your Child is studying at Oxford University.. we
can easily provide global protection and usually for under 50 cents
a day. Yes that is correct, under $1 a day in almost all cases and
countries removes this risk.
For those that have taken out a international liability policy
locally in the host country, you should know it will almost never
cover you or a family member when you are outside of the residence
country. For any high net worth individual this is completely unacceptable
and unwise. A lawsuit can happen anywhere in the world at any time.
What Other Features Do We Provide in Our Global Liability Policy?
Unlimited local "in country" defense costs: If
you are formally sued in a foreign country or found negligent and
required to pay a damage award you need legal representation locally.
(Your employer is not providing you with international global personal
liability insurance and they cannot legally defend you in the case
of a personal claim or suit, unless your employer is formally named
or "attached" in the suit.
Comprehensive coverage that protects both you and your family
for unintentional bodily injury, personal injury, or property damage:
An effective policy should provide both on premises and off premises
coverage, and include medical payments to others if they are injured
because of the negligence of you or a family member. We provide
$25,000 of medical payments to other which is far more than other
policies.
Coverage does not "shut off" when a family member
enters the United States, or the home country: Even for the
few that can find livability coverage locally in the host country,
it will rarely extend coverage outside of the residence country
and never in the U.S. Home country liability policies do not work
internationally once the insurer finds out you have relocated internationally.
Host and home country solutions don't work nearly as well as a global
solution, like the one IPI provides.
