In addition to specializing in international personal property insurance
and global liability insurance, IPI also offers other necessary
and hard to find insurance solutions for people that live and work
internationally. Vacant home insurance, also called vacant homeowners
insurance and vacant dwelling insurance is a coverage needed by
many that will live away from their home country.
What is Vacant Home Insurance?
Homes and buildings that become empty, vacant, or unoccupied for
over 90 days require a special type of insurance called vacant homeowners
insurance. Almost all homeowners insurance companies cannot continue
to provide insurance protection on a house that has become empty
or vacant for over a certain period of time.
There
may be thousands of people at this time who are living outside of
the country of citizenship and who believe that they have full coverage
on their house back home, or in another country. Perhaps they were
told by their agent everything is fine. Perhaps they have not reported
this fact to the insurance company. In almost all cases, these people
are risking everything and do not have coverage in the event of
loss. Just because the homeowners insurance is "paid up"
does not mean there will be coverage at the time of loss. An insurance
company is more than pleased to return all premium to a homeowners
vs. having to pay a $100,000 fire loss claim.
